Project title:
Understanding the visual systems of Syngnathidae and implications for conservation
Project description:
This project aims to investigate the highly specialized visual systems of the Syngnathidae (seahorses, pipefish and seadragons) through behavioral, field, and histological methods. Information about their visual ecology will then be used to inform conservation actions, including habitat restoration and development. This research will also involve population studies on an endangered species of seahorse in Queensland, Hippocampus whitei, with the aim to develop conservation actions for this species in SE QLD.
