Project title:

Investigating the policy drivers and potential solutions to contemporary deforestation in northern Australia.

Project description:

The primary activity driving the biodiversity crisis is habitat destruction. I am investigating the current patterns and enabling conditions for ongoing deforestation in northern Australia. This region has rich biodiversity and extensive intact ecosystems, but is at imminent risk of deforestation due to increased interest from the agricultural and resource sectors. The outcomes of this project will provide insight on why deforestation is continuing, despite the many regulatory instruments in place to protect and manage biodiversity and vegetation.
