Project title:

Climate Gentrification in Coastal Cities in the Era of Climate Change: Concept, Emergence, and Empir

Project description:

This project develops a theoretical framework to understand the mechanisms underpinning the ways in which climate gentrification may occur and provides empirical evidence of the potential existence of climate gentrification in coastal cities. It explores climate gentrification from both theoretical and empirical perspectives by defining theoretically the concept, constructing a measurement system, and presenting an empirical study. The proposed tri-disciplinary framework can be applied in broader cross-disciplinary studies on social changes associated with climate change in various geographic contexts. The empirical study provides evidence for the existence of climate gentrification and highlights individuals’ different responses to climate change.
