Project title:
Understanding tsunami sources and frequency in northern Tonga
Project description:
This project investigates Niuatoputapu, a Tongan island vulnerable to tsunamis and storms. We will analyse past geological changes and sediment deposits to reconstruct the island's history of these natural disasters. By combining this information with historical data, we hope to gain valuable insights into Niuatoputapu's geological evolution and improve our understanding of island formation and natural hazard dynamics in the Pacific, particularly for areas prone to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and cyclones.
