Project title:

Mapping Australia's kelp forests for a stronger Blue Carbon economy

Project description:

My research focuses on developing the tools and data needed to map kelp in the coastal waters around continental Australia using remote sensing techniques to allow accurate and repeatable mapping and estimates of kelp biomass. The tools, data and products produced through this project will allow ecosystem managers and communities to better monitor their coastal environments at the local level and facilitate kelp’s inclusion in Blue Carbon accounting at regional to continental scales.
