Testing Models of Species Distribution in Peri-urban SEQ
Theme: Biodiversity and conservation science, Environmental management, Geography, Zoology and wildlife biology
Description: General models of species distribution will be tested against empirical data using density by distance and other data collection methods. The target species is koala and the location will be the Brisbane Valley and / or Scenic Rim. Data collected will also be used to assess the value of other programs to evaluate habitat value at a local government level (or larger). The student will use spatial and social data analysis to derive estimates of koala population and habitat value and also to assess data quality.
Additional Information: This project may require access to a vehicle - funding to support transport will be available. Outcomes will be of interest to various levels of government and collaboration with NRM and NGO entities will be supported.
