Killer flowers - effects of tulip tree flowers on stingless bees
Theme: Biodiversity and conservation science, Ecology genetics and evolution, Zoology and wildlife biology
Description:
African tulip tree is an invasive species in Australia and is reported to be toxic to native stingless bees - with dead bees often found in the flowers. This project will investigate the mechanisms by which the flowers might impact native bees.
Additional Information:
This project has opportunities to collaborate with researchers at Queensland Department of Primary Industries (formerly QDAF) and support for fieldwork and experiments. Flowering is December to August and best suits Semester 1.
