Theme: Earth science and resources

Description:

The eastern portion of Moreton Bay is home to extensive seagrass meadows and unique coral assemblages that each rely on a unique and relatively poorly defined hydrodynamic regime. The complex morphology in the region provides a multitude of pathways for water inflow and outflow from Moreton Bay. This project would involve a fine scale assessment of the structure and hydrodynamic regime (e.g., waves, currents, tides) of the Rainbow Channel from Dunwich to the exit of Moreton Bay at the South Passage Bar, using both field techniques and numerical models.

Additional Information: The honors project will be conducted within the staff and students Marine Ecosystems Monitoring Lab that is focusing their research on coral reef and seagrass habitats using field and earth observation-based methods.
