Theme: Biodiversity and conservation science

Description:

Heron Reef and Moreton Bay reefs have been impacted by various natural disasters e.g. bleaching or cyclones. It’s unclear how much the 3D structure and the coral assemblage has been changing for these reef environments. 3D photogrammetry surveys have been conducted at various sites around these reefs and could be analysed to provide that information and assess the changes taking place. This project will involve potential collection of new data, and analysis of the new or available 3D photogrammetry data sets to derive information on benthic assemblage and rugosity.

Additional Information: The honors project will be conducted within the staff and students Marine Ecosystems Monitoring Lab that is focusing their research on coral reef and seagrass habitats using field and earth observation-based methods.
