Mineral carbonation of bischofite waste from lithium extraction.
Theme: Earth science and resources, Environmental management
Description: Mineral carbonation is one of the few climate mitigation processes that has the capacity to produce long term geologically stable carbon storage mineral products. This project will employ cyanobacteria as catalysts for mineral carbonation of bischofite as a climate change remediation strategy associated with lithium extraction
Additional Information: Methods employed:
- Bacterial culture methods.
- Geochemistry.
- Mineralogy.
- Microscopy.
